Table Tennis 1

Table tennis is considered to have a number of benefits for retired people, including:

  • improving hand-eye co-ordination
  • stimulating the brain
  • helping with socialising
  • keeping reflexes sharp
  • improving balance

This group has been operating since 2013, and has been full for most of the time. We now play at Sale Leisure Centre.

In recent times a few of our group members have not been attending regularly, and I have found that it's useful to have a waiting list of people who can fill spaces at short notice when numbers allow, and I'm able to invite waiting list members fairly frequently. This works well, as I use a WhatsApp group to ascertain attendance numbers in advance of each session, thus enabling me to work out how many "reserves" can be fitted in, and I then send last-minute invitations to Waiting List members, also via WhatsApp.
