Volunteering at Trafford Wildlife

Trafford Wildlife have been supporting wildlife in the Carrington Moss and Dunham areas for many years. We run several tasks each week on assorted Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tasks include Himalayan balsam removal, tree planting, young tree maintenance, invasive rhododendron removal, litter picking and hedge laying. Volunteering in an outdoor environment assists wellbeing and mental health. If you would like to be involved, join us through https://www.trafford-wildlife.co.uk/ Tasks are typically 10-3 with a lunch break. We make our own way to site and use our own tools – typically those that most people use in their own garden.

HELP THE HOMELESS and NEAR HOMELESS

This is what Sue and Robert Redford have been doing from their antique shop in Altrincham for many years.

There is always a need, and more so with the cold weather approaching.  Sue and Robert would welcome donations for adults, teenagers, children and babies of:-
clothing, bedding, toiletries, tinned food, dry goods, toys, Christmas gifts and anything else that would help and give comfort to a homeless or near homeless individual or family who have nothing.

The Collection Point is the shop on 48 New Street, Altrincham, WA14 QS.  You can park directly outside.  If it’s closed, knock on the house next door, No. 50, where Sue and Robert live.  Their phone number is 0161 929 1219.  They will be delighted to see you.

The Silver Line ( https://www.thesilverline.org.uk/ )

Since our national launch in November 2013, The Silver Line Helpline has received over 2.5 million calls. Over two-thirds of these calls were made overnight or at weekends when no other helpline is available for older people who may be lonely, isolated or confused.

The Silver Line provides three functions to support older people:

  • a 24-hour helpline which is available 365 days a year and offers information, signposting, advice, and a place to talk
  • a befriending service to combat loneliness
  • a means of empowering those who may be suffering abuse and neglect, if appropriate to transfer them to specialist services to protect them from harm
