Our UkuHalee Band

Hale u3a UkuHalee Band

One of our groups Ukulele 1 - also known as Hale u3a UkuHalee regularly perform in the community.

The UkuHalee Band are available to play at parties, Probus clubs, women's groups, sheltered accommodation complexes, dementia cafés, in fact anywhere!! There is no charge but donations are appreciated and every penny sent to charity. We are all amateurs but we have appeared on stage. The picture opposite was taken when we were on stage at the Altrincham Garrick. If you want to book us then you can contact the Hale u3a UkuHalee Band here.

2023 was another busy year for the UkuHalee Band with over 40 performances at various venues, most of which were private functions including care homes, Dementia cafés, birthday parties, W.I groups, Probus groups and our first wedding reception. Our public performances were in June when we
collaborated with the Sale Male Voice Choir and in October when we performed at the Friday Matinee Concert at The Avenue Church in Sale.

We cover a wide range of music as demonstrated to those u3a members who attended the Christmas Gala in December. We had people dancing to our rock and roll numbers such as “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Hound Dog”, took them down to the cotton fields with “Pick a Bale of Cotton” and we even ventured into the world of light opera with “Funiculi,Funicula”. If it was good for Pavarotti then it’s good enough for us!

Apart from enjoying ourselves, we’ve raised just short of £2,500 this year taking our grand total to £16,711.38. All donation monies have been divided between our 2 charities, the Alzheimer’s Society and Cystic Fibrosis. Every member of the band has given up their free time to make this possible.
If you would like to book us for an upcoming event, please contact me: ukulele1@haleu3a.co.uk. We already have 17 bookings in the diary for this year - so be quick!
