Essentially, the singing will be A Capella, no musical instruments, with musical backing provided by other voices – dependant only on what type of voices the members can bring. The more varied the voices available, soprano through to bass, the more complete the overall sound will be – and the easier it will be for the nervous to melt into the chorus, if that's what you want. Maybe barber-shop style but probably without sticking to the rules.
