Applied Ethics

Applied ethics means using ethical theories to better understand practical moral issues. Historically this focused on medicine, the administration of Justice and the conduct of war, but now applied ethics is used in virtually every aspect of our way of life. From fundamental challenges such as euthanasia, to advertising standards, cheating in exams or how to use the Highway. The Group will use a case method, where each session will discuss a specific scenario setting out a moral dilemma. The idea is to demonstrate case by case a range of ethical approaches to understanding how to handle practical moral dilemmas.
